Our workshops provide extensive facilities to cover all areas of teaching and manufacture in the engineering disciplines.
Students' Mechanical Workshops (Harrison)
The role of this workshop is to help students with the manufacturing and construction of their projects using conventional manufacturing machinery.
Facilities
Our workshop is equipped with a wide range of machines to enable the manufacture of mechanical apparatus for teaching and research.
In addition to a selection of Hand and Measuring tools, we also have available for use the following:
Milling
3 x Turret mills (Bridgeport Design);
Pillar drills
4 x Pillar drills;
Centre lathes
We hold 4 x centre lathes of various sizes;
Bandsaw
1 x Bandsaw Guillotine, folder, fly-press and hand operated bending rolls (up to 1200mm width);
Access
Access to the workshop is subject to departmental requirements, which may wish to make use of this facility.
Booking the workshop
The workshop cannot be used unsupervised, if you do want to use the facilities, please contact ext 4078 or 6519 to book a timeslot.
