This module will introduce you to the main technologies and processes for mineral processing and hydrometallurgy for a range of important metalliferous and industrial mineral deposits covering: the comminution and liberation of minerals; the separation of minerals; and, the extraction of metals, including emerging approaches, technologies and digital applications in these areas. You will also learn about the geochemical, mineralogical, geophysical and remote sensing techniques of mine waste characterisation, the methods used to predict their behaviour in the environment, the character of common mine waste types, and techniques of remediation, including the design and management of tailings dams, as well as designing for mine closure, cost estimation and financing
