Dr Joanne Mason
Senior Lecturer
Location: Harrison 336
Telephone: 01392 726606
Extension: (Streatham) 6606
Research Interests
My primary research interests are in theoretical and computational modelling in magnetohydrodynamics (MHD). I am particularly interested in the fundamental properties of MHD turbulence and the generation of magnetic fields in the universe (dynamo theory). More generally, I am interested in fluid instabilities, nonlinear phenomena in the physical sciences, and using the techniques of high-performance computing to solve problems that cannot be addressed otherwise.
Biographical Information
I joined the University of Exeter as a lecturer in Applied Mathematics in 2012. Prior to this I was a research scientist in the Department of Astronomy & Astrophysics at the University of Chicago, USA, and a postdoctoral fellow at the High Altitude Observatory, USA. I obtained my PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Leeds in 2004.
