Dr Jawad Fayaz
Lecturer in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (E&R)
Location: Innovation Centre Phase 1 J1
Telephone: 01392 723664
Extension: (Streatham) 3664
I am a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Exeter (UoE), UK, and an Honorary Lecturer at University College London (UCL), UK.
I completed my Ph.D. at the University of California, Irvine, USA in 2021 and then joined University College London (UCL), UK as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow.
My research is based on machine learning and deep learning areas with interdisciplinary goals of improving community resilience and sustainability through engineering and environmental intelligence. The work spans a wide array of challenges related to natural and built environments including decision support systems for earthquakes, probabilistic seismic hazard analysis, infrastructural health monitoring, traffic optimization, water distribution management, and climate change adaptation strategies. My expertise includes artificial neural networks, time-series analysis, computer vision, feature engineering, risk and reliability analysis, surrogate modelling, simulations and generative AI, Bayesian modelling, and explainable artificial intelligence.
