I am currently an Associate Professor in the Centre for Geophysical and Astrophysical Fluid Dynamics. My interests are in Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), especially in the context of the solar atmosphere. You can see the specific areas I have studied by looking at my publication list.

I work to combine analytic results with simulations and analyse of observations to give a balanced understanding of the dynamics we can observe in the solar atmosphere. I have worked a lot of the beautiful flows, instabilities and waves that can be seen in solar prominences in the observations by the Hinode Satellite. I am also working on how the low ionisation, due to the cool temperatures of many astrophysical systems, changes dynamics in MHD and on more fundamental fluid dynamics problems involving fluid mixing by instabilities. Please see my pulications list for my resent results in these areas.

If you are interested in doing a Ph.D. or a postdoc in any of the above areas please email me directly. For self-funded students I offer specific projects in partially ionised MHD and in turbulent mixing in MHD.
