This module assumes an essential work on a selected problem in the area of Applied Artificial Intelligence. Due to the diversity of topics, where Artificial Intelligence tools and techniques can be applied, there is a wide spectrum of possibilities for a selection of the project, but also for a choice of methods and techniques used to solve and analyse the problem considered.
This module aims to introduce the student to substantial research projects, particularly in the field of applied artificial intelligence, and it aims to put into practice the knowledge acquired from the taught elements of the programme. It aims to give the student experience of many aspects of research work including planning, experimentation and analysis, interpretation of results and presentation.
Module Specific Skills and Knowledge:
1 Demonstrate having undertaken deep and self-motivated exploration of a research topic of relevance to the programme, which qualifies them to be knowledgeable experts in that topic;
2 Demonstrate they possess the necessary skills to systematically design and follow the phases of research project development
3 Demonstrate the ability to apply sophisticated and appropriate analysis and development techniques at each stage of the project
Discipline Specific Skills and Knowledge:
4 Demonstrate experience in the preparation of a journal article based on individually motivated research and work

5 Demonstrate experience in the presentation of their research work to peers
