The GIL Service will be closed from April 5th to April 16th
GIL service enables you to study on your own with the support
and guidance of a tutor. You can use the INTO Learning Resource
Centre - including its counselling service - and web-based resources. Essentially it is a 1-2-1
guidance service that supports nearly every aspect of your university
Make an appointment with a tutor by email. The GIL service is
only open at specific times (see below). At the first appointment we
will be able to work
an individualised study programme and then follow this up
with subsequent appointments when you feel you want to.
We offer support in a number of areas:
essay and assignment
listening skills for
lectures and seminars
preparing for English
language examinations (IELTS and CAE)
subject-specific and academic vocabulary)
preparing a literature review
managing tutorials and academic conversation
the rationale management of ideas in written and spoken work
You can also ask for a writing tutorial - please mention this in your email so we can allow a longer time. You must bring your text on a memory stick or send it by email in advance so we can look at it together on a computer.
Registering and opening times - making an appointment

student and enroll in GIL. You can then make
an appointment by email (email@example.com).
Please state the day, date and time you would like an appointment according to the opening times given below.
Appointments are made on a strictly 'first come first served' basis. It would also help if you could
think carefully about the kind of support you need.
We will normally allow 60 minutes for a writing tutorial and 30 minutes for a
