Student Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) meeting in progress

2.8 Student Partnership and Community

A welcome from your College Officer

I’m Caroline Brodersen (pronounced Caroleena) and I’m very excited to be your Humanities College Officer for this academic year! I am studying MA History and I completed my undergraduate studies in History at Exeter last year while I was the History Subject Chair for the History SSLC. My role involves representing you and advocating for your views at College level, working with senior executive College staff in Humanities, your Subject Chairs and your Students' Guild. This year I will be working to encourage a greater sense of our Humanities community by focusing on increasing College level support for your wellbeing and academic studies, collaborating with staff and students to ensure effective communication, increasing the visibility of student representation, employability opportunities and academic contact time as well as promoting equality and diversity in the College. I consider myself an approachable point of contact for all students so please get in contact throughout the year to raise your concerns for issues at College level.

Student-Staff Liaison Committes

As a College, we are committed to enabling students to communicate their views and suggestions about our programmes, policies and procedures.

Each discipline/programme has a Student Staff Liasion Committee (SSLC), convened by an elected Subject Chair and composed of elected student representatives and appropriate staff representatives from undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes. In addition, the College has an informal PGT Student Forum.

The College's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education), along with the College Officer (a student representative elected by students), will meet with Subject Chairs as part of the Student Partnership Board during term time.

For a full list of all the SSLC representatives please see the Exeter or Penryn pages.
