Exeter Ethos

The Exeter Ethos promotes mutual respect, and sets out what students can expect of the College, as well as what the College expects of its students.

Combining tradition with innovation, it reflects the values at the heart of today’s learning community. It encapsulates both the personal and academic integrity valued by our community, and the trust and respect which permeates learning throughout the College of Humanities at all levels.

The Exeter Ethos articulates the College of Humanities’ expectations of all students, both taught and research, and all staff, both academics and professional services, to establish and foster the highest standards in academic work and to prioritise the sense of a learning community. It arises out of discussions between groups of students and staff begun in 2011. It is framed around three key values: integrity, civility and trust.
