AIMS - intentions of the module
To provide an understanding of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) to ISO14000 specifications, and environmental monitoring.

SYLLABUS PLAN - summary of the structure and academic content of the module
Role and structure of an Environmental Impact Assessment; Function and structure of an Environmental Management System to ISO 14001 specification; Relation of EMS to quality systems; Relation of ISO 14001 to European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS); Rationale for environmental monitoring; Overview of environmental monitoring techniques. The module will make use of case studies where appropriate.
