DESCRIPTION - summary of the module content
AIMS - intentions of the module
The project provides the student with the opportunity to carry out individual research. Project titles, involving any aspect of the course, will be chosen from a list at the beginning of the academic year. Students will commence work on their project at the beginning of the first term and work through both terms.

SYLLABUS PLAN - summary of the structure and academic content of the module
During both semesters of the final year, an individual project is undertaken by each student on subject related to the course. It is normally laboratory, computer of field based, although library based research projects are occasionally undertaken. Students keep a detailed diary of their expected and actual work and this is reviewed by their supervisor throughout the year. Weeks 1-10 • Produce PowerPoint poster (end of WEEK 1) • Produce proposal form (end of WEEK 2) • Develop project goals • Conduct literature survey • Initial study/fieldwork • Produce presentation around initial findings and project planning (end of WEEK 10) • Keep a diary of work undertaken (WEEKS 1-10) Weeks 11-19 • Conduct research on thesis topic • Keep a diary of work undertaken (WEEKS 11-19) • Complete thesis write-up (end of WEEK 19)
