DESCRIPTION - summary of the module content
AIMS - intentions of the module
To equip the students with professional communication skills. To provide a working knowledge of company structure, financial management accountancy and control, business methods and practice. To introduce the essentials of project management, human resources and Total Quality Management and the legal framework in which business operates.

SYLLABUS PLAN - summary of the structure and academic content of the module
Communication and presentation skills, Basic accounting practice, double entry bookkeeping, company structure, finance and reporting obligations. Analysis of financial statements projects costing and cost flow forecasting. Total quality concept, quality and competitiveness, partnership for quality, quality culture, customer focus. Employee involvement and empowerment. Project Management, Operations Management, Strategic Management. Decision making and problem solving. Employer-employee relationship, contract of employment, reward systems, disciplines. Employment law. UK and social chapter. International quality standards and accreditation ISO9000 etc.
