DESCRIPTION - summary of the module content
AIMS - intentions of the module
To introduce fundamental concepts of electronics, which provide a foundation for further study in these areas. To consolidate a common knowledge-base and begin the development of a learning methodology appropriate to a professional engineer. To introduce electronics terminology and devices and elementary circuits. To introduce the concept of logic systems and their implementation using electronic devices.

SYLLABUS PLAN - summary of the structure and academic content of the module
Introduction to semiconductors; diodes and applications, transistors as amplifiers and switches, ; operational amplifiers and their applications; logic gates - combinational and sequential logic, Boolean algebra. Case study - measuring forces using strain gauge systems.
