Health, Wellbeing and Fitness to Study

The University Health, Wellbeing and Fitness to Study (HWFTS, formerly known as the Fitness to Study) Procedure is intended to be used in cases where a student's performance, attendance or behaviour is such that would normally lead to disciplinary procedures, yet where there is concern that the behaviour is caused by underlying disability or ill health.

This procedure is designed to ensure that the University is able to provide students with every reasonable support to enable them to study, learn and graduate successfully.

The procedure can be initiated either by academic staff or Professional Service staff if they have sufficient concerns.

For more information, please see either the Exeter campuses Health, Wellbeing and Fitness to Study Procedure or the Cornwall campuses Health, Wellbeing and Fitness to Study Procedure, dependent on your location of study.

Fitness to Practise

This section relates to students studying on the BSc Medical Imaging programme only.

The College has a responsibility to ensure that not only have you demonstrated appropriate academic achievements, but also that you have demonstrated the appropriate professional skills and attitudes required for entry to your profession, and that you will be a safe and suitable entrant to the profession.  Physical or mental health reasons may also be the cause for someone being deemed to be unfit to practise.

Where there are concerns about your suitability for the award of a qualification leading to such a profession, the University will consider your case through our Fitness to Practise procedure.
