The academic year

 

The academic year at the University of Exeter is 31 weeks long. This is split into three terms following a 12+12+7 model. 

 

The term dates for the academic year of 2016/2017 are shown below:

Autumn Term Monday 19th September - Friday 9th December 2016
Spring Term Monday 9th January - Friday 31st March 2017
Summer Term Tuesday 2nd May - Friday 16th June 2017

The term dates for the academic year of 2017/2018 are shown below:

Autumn Term

Monday 25th September - Friday 15th December 2017
Spring Term Monday 8th January - Thursday 29th March 2018
Summer Term Monday 30th April - Friday 15th June 2018

 The term dates for the academic year of 2018/2019 are shown below:

Autumn Term Monday 24th September - Friday 14th December 2018
Spring Term Monday 7th January - Friday 29th March 2019
Summer Term Monday 29th April - Friday 14th June 2019

 

The dates of required attendance do vary for some of the Colleges programmes, as follows:

  • BSc Medical Imaging (Diagnostic Radiography). The academic year is 40 weeks instead of 31 weeks to accommodate placement modules.

You should note that the University requires that you be in attendance, as appropriate to your programme of study, from the first to the last day of term. You must ask permission (contact your Student Services Office) if you wish to be absent from the University for any considerable period during term time.
