The Sustainable Materials and Manufacturing MSc group project will enable you to address a key sustainability area by working within a team on the development of a product from concept to manufacture. It aims to further reinforce you with the key skills sought by global employers, enabling you to overcome cultural barriers, learn knowledge management, computer aided design and engineering systems within a real business context. The group project should have the potential for innovation and also be of significance to the business.
The MSc group project and associated thesis aims to showcase a range of your abilities, including effective team working, problem solving, decision making and research skills. It will give you the chance to apply the knowledge and skills you have obtained from taught modules and independent learning to a real-world problem in a professional manner and as part of a team effort.
On successful completion of this module you should be able to:

2. Plan and manage the progress of a substantial (900-hour) MSc group project.

As agreed with MSc group project supervisor. Outline group project schedule includes:
- Months 0-6: Identification of group, research topic and project supervisor
- Months 6-12: Submission of working title and draft introduction to project supervisor
- Months: 12-20: Submission of draft literature review to project supervisor
- Months 20-24: Submission of draft research methodology to project supervisor
- Months 24-35: Submission of completed individual thesis

You will be given one opportunity to remedy failure in the MSc Group Project. If a mark of 30 or less is obtained you will only be permitted to submit a re-worked submission for examination against the learning outcomes associated with the Postgraduate Diploma, the achievement of which would enable you to be considered for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma (awarded by the University of Warwick only).
